Full-time Senior Development Management Planner

at Capita Symonds in Breckland


We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Development Management Planner to join our team.


The key objectives of the post are to give Seniorlevel support within the development management service that we provide to Breckland Council and assist in growing the Capita Property and infrastructure planning team consultancy business.


Your key responsibilities:

To manage a personal caseload of all types of application to include large major applications.
To deal with all aspects of the Development Management process to include consultations and negotiations
To provide timely reports and  recommendations to the manager of the development management team
To attend the Planning Committee in the absence of the manager of the development management team.
To provide professional advice on planning matters to clients, the public, Members of the Council, and others as necessary.


To provide guidance to technical staff in the delivery of the development management service
To negotiate with applicants and agents to obtain quality outcomes within the time constraints set out in the business's contractual arrangements.
Provide advice to the Enforcement Team
Prepare appeals in relation to planning and enforcement matters and attend formal and informal inquiries as necessary
To attend public meetings
To keep up to date with current legislation and policy changes.
To contribute to consultancy projects for the business
To ensure excellent customer service to our clients by phone, e-mail and face to face
Have good communication skills and ability to work with limited supervision on advanced tasks
• Comply with Health and Safety rules for the safety of yourself and others

Requirements: (Essential)

You will be expected to have:
Significant experience in development management working within a busy team environment delivering a range of planning application and appeal casework;
A degree qualification in Town and Country Planning or equivalent experience;
Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute;
A thorough knowledge of current legislation relating to planning and enforcement matters;
Significant experience in dealing with major planning applications and legal agreements;
Good verbal and written communication skills to include an ability to make concise focused oral
presentations;
The ability to consider a wide range of complex planning and related issues and balance those issues to make a clear and reasoned judgement;
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel etc);
The ability to prioritise and manage a significant workload, and to work flexibly to meet the commercial and contractual requirements of the business;
The ability to use personal initiative to solve challenges;
The ability to work with a wide range of people and to work as a member of a team;
To be able to work under pressure to produce timely and high quality work;
Hold a current driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
