Full-time Organisational Development & Community Engagement Manager

at Capita Symonds in London

Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for organisational development and community engagement activities. The responsibilities will primarily include, but not be limited to, those listed below:

• Liaison with central recruitment team and hiring managers to ensure that vacancies are filled in a timely manner, including:
o Writing comprehensive job specifications
o Managing the local internal recruitment process
o Arranging interviews and for completion of associated paperwork
o Submitting information to the central HR administration team to allow timely preparation of offer and contract of employment
o Co-ordinating the induction and probation procedures

• Development, implementation and management of learning & development initiatives to attract, develop and retain the appropriate level of skill and talent within the business, including:
o Working with managers to ensure the timely completion of appraisals and maintaining an up-to-date appraisal register
o Maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date training plan for the business
o Ensuring all employees comply with the Health & Safety Training Policy and other mandatory training requirements
o Implementing and monitoring a quality support structure for employees seeking professional qualifications
o Implementing company career development initiatives in the local business including apprentice, graduate, technical and leadership development training programmes

• Liason with the Operations Board, managers and staff to understand and improve employee engagement, including:
o Responding to annual staff survey results by developing, implementing and progressing a local action plan
o Managing the relationship and process to achieve Investors in People accreditation
o Chairing a regular staff representatives forum
• Liaison with managers to implement and manage health & wellbeing activities to contribute to the improved welfare of employees, including:
o Implementating robust absence management procedures and comprehensive records
o Implementing a range of health & wellbeing activities to suit diverse employees, issues and working patterns
o Managing the relationship and process to achieve Investors in People Health & Wellbeing Award

• Liaison with appropriate community and partner organisations for satisfactory achievement of community commitments, including:
o Maintaining a register of trained employee Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematices (STEM) Ambassadors and implementing a targeted calendar of activities in the community
o Liaising with local educational establishments, community organisations and the Princes Trust to support initiatives to increase the educational and job prospects of local residents such as sponsorship schemes, work experience placements and mock interviews
o Liaising with local educational establishments and community organisations to successfully fill appropriate level vacancies within the business

• Preparation of variety of accurate OD Reports for staff, managers, the Operations Board, the national People Development Group (PDG) and clients as required by the business

• Working with organisational development professionals across the business to share best practice and support company wide initiatives

• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Confident to work with staff and managers at all levels in the business
• Previous experience of co-ordinating and/or managing organisational development activities in a medium to large sized business
• Graduate (ideally in people related discipline)

• Experience of working in the construction industry for a consultant or contractor
• Experience of coaching and mentoring others
• Working towards, or already achieved, MCIPD qualification

• Ability to communicate with people in a friendly and courteous manner, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels
• Confident to work with the senior management teams to present, discuss and challenge ideas
• Positive approach to change, implementing new initiatives/procedures and addressing any resistance encountered
• Good organisational skills, including the ability to progress numerous initiatives and actions simultaneously, prioritise work under pressure and complete within deadlines
• Flexible to travel to all divisional offices.
