Full-time Health and Safety Graduate

at Capita Symonds in London


A Health and Safety Professional who is competent to provide a CDM-C service advising and overseeing the statutory duties of the CDM-C as defined by CDM 2007, on a wide range of projects, and also as a Health and Safety professional on non construction projects.

The post holder will have responsibility for their projects and for ensuring these projects meet the business standards on project governance.

The post holder will also have responsibility for identifying new work and gaining repeat business from existing Clients.

The Post holder should be able to support the bid process for new opportunities under the business governance process.

• Ensure output from projects is of a high standard
• Support the bid process for new works in accordance with company procedures
• Ability to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within the resource profile which was completed prior to the start of the project
• Ability to take responsibility for and manage the successful delivery of projects, including Client and Contractor liaison.
• Support the Senior Staff as required.


• Construction Industry Knowledge/Experience
• The ability to manage multiple projects
• An understanding of the design process and how to design out hazards and risks.
• A thorough knowledge of the CDM regulations and associated legislation is required
• Demonstrable technical knowledge
• Gained an appropriate external health and safety accreditation, and
• Appropriate experience of the design and construction processes applicable to the project
• Relevant technical or professional qualification
• Experience of providing CDM advice in a construction environment
OR
• Have attained Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)
• Appropriate experience of the design and construction processes applicable to the project
• In addition to the above, all persons shall be able to demonstrate a current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).  
• Commercial acuity
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


• Candidates ideally will have CMIOSH or equivalent
• An additional health and safety qualification such as a Degree, Diploma, or NEBOSH Certificate would be an advantage.  
• Ability to use Sharepoint and other technology as required by the business
• Knowledge of Office Procedures and the BMS/QMS systems
• Knowledge of SAP and Desktop


• Excellent communication, management and team working skills are required
• The ability to be flexible in balancing health and safety risks with cost and programme whilst maintaining legal compliance
• Will be a strong Health and Safety professional
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
