Full-time Graduate Landscape Architect / Trainee

The Southampton office has a highly experienced team of property specialists who can provide a wide range of multi-disciplinary consultancy services for our clients, which include Southampton City Council, Southampton Solent University, Associated British Ports and EMCOR Facilities Services Ltd.

We focus on building strategic relationships with our clients whilst delivering a comprehensive service across their portfolio and optimising the benefits of continuous improvement in design quality, efficiency, cost reduction and knowledge retention.

From the planned and reactive maintenance of over 200 buildings including the Grade 2* listed Civic Centre, schools, libraries, listed buildings, crematoria and houses to regeneration schemes, asset management, bridge engineering and design and build projects, we can provide a bespoke, comprehensive service that can assist with all of your property requirements and, if external expertise is required, we can rely on an extensive network of highly trained professionals from over 50 Capita Symonds offices across the UK


We are looking for an experienced and business focussed individual to join our multi disciplined office based in Southampton to join our Building Consultancy team within our multi disciplined office based in Southampton.

The successful candidate will join a thriving business unit and will be required to have the determination and focus to drive to make a real difference to the running of the team.

Requirements: (Essential)

You will be expected to have:
• Progressively working towards professional membership of the Landscape Institute (LI)
• Minimum qualification of Diploma/Degree in Landscape Architecture
• CAD Proficient, Photoshop proficient and experience of other Adobe packages would be an advantage (Illustrator and In-Design).   3D graphic and visualisation skills would also be beneficial.
• Must demonstrate a high standard of conceptual design skills with the ability to transpose these into competent computer graphic presentation work.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks or projects to deadline and / or budget
• The ability to work under direction but to be able to use own initiative when required
• Good relationship management with both colleagues and clients

• Be proficient in MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project etc)
• Maintain annual CPD record to develop / maintain knowledge of industry best practices

Requirements: (Desirable)

Ideally you will have:
• Be educated to degree level in Landscape Architecture
• Experience performing a similar role
• Ability to communicate with people in a co-operative and persuasive manner
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Commercially aware and financially astute
• Experience of preparing specifications and contract documents
• Must be fully IT literate and numerate
• Ability to network and to successfully pursue new business opportunities
• Experience of developing excellent Client relationships
• Comfortable in client-facing situations, able to influence and convince
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 certified environment

You will need to be self-motivated, open minded and have proven design and communication skills. You should enjoy working collaboratively in a busy team environment and must be able to display initiative, commitment, and rigour and have a sound knowledge of all stages of the design process. Above all, you will need to show that you have the drive, energy, and enthusiasm that could contribute to the success of our range of new, exciting, high profile, and challenging projects. They will need to be willing to develop new skills beyond the core functions and have the ability to meet deadlines.
